Kronometer 1.6 is now available for download. This new release brings an improved UI in the Settings dialog, as well as a couple of annoying bugs fixed. The Settings dialog has been cleaned up, according to the KDE Human Interface Guidelines. In particular, the forms labels are now right-aligned and every useless scrollarea/groupbox has been removed. Speaking about the other bugs fixed, the Ask On Exit option has been removed. It was a wrongly designed option since the beginning. KDE provides the Don’t ask again checkbox in its message dialogs, which can be used for the same purpose (i.e. warn the user when there are unsaved times). The last bug fixed is about the lap times format. It was completely ignored, now it’s not.

What’s next?

I would like to have Kronometer 1.6 as the last KDE4 release (bugfixes excluded). Plasma 5 is now ready enough and it does not make much sense to develop new features in the KDE4 world. My idea would be to release a 2.0 version of Kronometer for Plasma 5 only. The Kronometer port to KF5 is already done, but I’m thinking about something else to do, to justify the bump from the 1.x to the 2.x numbering scheme.
